Part two Building a visual vocabulary.

Stage 1 Introduction and preparation.

I started off by mixing the colour wheel and then moved on to mixing the tones and saturated colours. I found that I could mix a wider selection of colours with white than I could with the black as the black killed the colour quicker. Doing the colour mixing has help me focus on colour and the importance of getting the colour as accurate as possible.

Stage 2 Colour perception

Exercise 1

I found after doing this exercise that the smaller coloured squares shade changes, it would become duller or brighter depending on what coloured background it was on. If it was on its complementary colour, the line where the two colours meet zing.

Exercise 2

I found that the grey square did take on a shade of the complementary colour.

Stage 3 Recording colour accurately

Exercise 1

I used Acrylic and watercolour paints for this exercise. I set them out the same and tried to mix them as similar as possible to get a comparison of colour and how the different paint looks. I expected the watercolour to look softer than the acrylic, and found that it was easier to see the subtle differences in the colour mix with the watercolour.

Exercise 2

I really enjoyed doing this exercise mixing the correct colour, I really had to think and draw on what I had learnt from all the previous colour mixing exercises.

Part Two Building a visual Vocabulary.

Project 3

Stage 1 Introduction and preparation

I started with the colour wheel and then mixed the Tones and saturation colours. I found that more colours can be mixed with white, black kills the colour quicker. This has been a great exercise to focus my colour mixing.

Stage 2 Colour perception

Exercise 1

The shade of the smaller square looks a lighter or deeper shade of the colour. When the smaller square is on it complementary colour it really shows up and the line where the colours meets each other really zings. I then moved on to the small grey square on different colours and the grey square does take on the complementary colour.
