Exhibitions Visted

Textile exhibition ‘To boldly sew’
I went to this exhibition, it wasn’t as big as I thought it was going to be and I was not allowed to take photos. There were lots of interesting pieces. I was most surprised that the stitches used were very simple. A couple of artists that stood out were Sue Munday, Rosalind Woodhead and Alison Milner-Gulland. A could of ideas that I liked were: using photos as part of texture, watercolour paints on fragmented paper to give delicate feel, 3D textile a twisted sculpture and putting the textiles work onto a canvas.

Dominique Binet

While in France, Port-Bail I visited an exhibition by the artist Dominique Binet, I wasn't keen on her geometric shaped art, but in a corner was some interesting print/ small drawing just using line and letters. It created texture on the page. A couple of the pieces were called Plume Bleue A no. 23 (1998), Plume Vouge No. 21 (1998) and Eclipes. I have looked around the Internet and could not find these on there, which is a shame as i was not allowed to take photos.
